Celebrating International Women’s Day Through Art: Sevgili Arsız Olum – Dirmit

On the evening of March 5th, 2024, we embarked on a journey of inspiration and gratitude as we gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day through the transformative power of art.

We were privileged to witness the extraordinary talent of Nezaket Erden as she brought “Sevgili Arsız Olum – Dirmit” to life on stage. This amazing play took us into a world of dreams and realities, shedding light on what it means to be a girl growing up in Türkiye.

Following the play, the panel discussion with Nezaket Erden, Senior Gender Consultant Sinem Hun, moderated by Turkey Mozaik Foundation’s trustee and co-founder Nilufer Atalay deepened our understanding of the challenges and opportunities for gender equality in Türkiye and beyond.

Hearing Nezaket Erden’s challenging and heartfelt journey adapting Latife Tekin’s monumental novel Sevgili Arsız Olum and performing across Türkiye, including the remotest villages, was inspiring.

It was an evening of inspiration, solidarity, and empowerment. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us and contributed to the conversation. We also thank our dear friend Burcu Con Ustunel for all her efforts in organising this perfect evening.

Reflecting on the impact of yesterday’s event, we invite you to support our mission by donating to our Gender Equality Fund. Your contributions will help us make a difference in the lives of women and girls in Türkiye. Thank you for your support.
